Thank you Peter for your reply. Unfortunately, I know absolutely nothing
about my ancestor, Mary Ann Williams, except that she was born in Bassaleg
in about 1801. My main problem that all my maternal ancestors had such
common names, especially in and around Monmouthshire !! It's like looking
for a needle in a haystack to find the right family.

The books you mentioned - Sir Joseph Bradney's History of Monmouthshire, The
Hundred of Usk, p. 202 together with Joseph Herbert Canning's Collection MS
16 Family Pedigrees 22a, National Library of Wales, sound interesting.
