Information has just come to light that Thomas and Mary CAREY (or KERRY or
CARREY), listed in the 1851 census as arithmetic teacher and teacher
respectively, and who originated in Tipperary, were said to have founded the
first school in Tredegar, presumably betweem 1841 and 1851.

I wonder if anyone has any particular information about this school, or more
generally on records of early schools at Gwent RO or elsewhere.
