One of my second great grandfathers was Richard MEYRICK, born
approximately1821-1830 in Wales, who first appeared in the USA in the
1860 census for Schuylkill County, PA.
Since Richard MEYRICK is not a very common name in Wales during that
period, I have been trying to determine by the process of elimination
which Richard MEYRICK he might have been. Most of the Richard MEYRICK
names from the 1841-1861 censuses were in Glamorgan.
In the 1851 census for Swansea, Glamorgan, there is a Richard MEYRICK,
34, prisoner, coal miner, shown as born in Tredegar, Monmouthshire. If
his age is correct, he is 3-4 years older than the upper end of the age
range that I am considering, but knowing the frequency of errors in
census ages, I am seeking more information about him.
There is also an IGI entry for a Richard MEYRICK, born 1830 in
Trevethin, Monmouthshire, to John and Anne MEYRICK.
Does anyone have any additional information on either of these two
Richard MEYRICKs?
