Hello Barbara

Hahaha! Pragmatism rules!

A bit like the old tale of why mother used to take the knuckle off the roast
before putting it into the roasting dish!

Thanks.

Regards, John

Hello John,

Not so much religion or belief, I would say that more than likely it was
far
easier to remove the coffin through the window because most properties used

to have sash windows which would be far easier to take the coffin out than
attempt to take it out of the front parlour and carry it through a narrow
hallway.
Regards Barbara
