Subject: [MON] New to list - Surname MORGAN
G'day Listers,
My 3 x great grandparents, John MORGAN and Sarah (nee BLOUNT) came to
Australia in 1842. I have been successful in finding more on Sarah's
family but not yet John. Possibly because of the more common name.
John was born 1806 at Grosmont to Thomas and Rachael MORGAN. His
siblings were Mary b 1809 and d before 1824. Rachael b 1813. Elizabeth
b 1815. Edward b 1817. Thomas b 1820 all at Grosmont. Then another
Mary b 1824 at Raglan (I think it is) she died 1824.
John and Sarah married at Parish of All Saints, County of Hereford on 12
June 1838. John's father Thomas profession listed on the marriage
certificate looks like Tiler or possibly even Sailor.
Sarah was b 1814 at Moreton Jeffries, Herefordshire to Timothy BLOUNT
and Mary CALDICOT.
I am told John's siblings also migrated to Australia but am awaiting
confirmation of this.
I would like to find out more information on Thomas and Rachael if its
possible.
I can't seem to find a Rachael at all in any of the census and have no
idea of her maiden name.
Any suggestions as to where I could begin.
