Thanks for this information. I will try to get hold of the book you
mentioned here in Australia.
Regarding the "farmer" occupation in 1881 I've been told that the family had
a 10 acre holding up on Llanwenarth Breast but that James was often away as
he drove clapped out trains to Crewe for demolition for the LMS & his wife
was mostly responsible for the running of the "farm".
