Hi Graham,
Did you happen to know my grandfather Joe (Joseph) Fry, who worked at the sheds?
Regards,

Greetings. With Reference to the above book.I met the Author Tom RICHARDS
many Years ago.He turned up at one of the Meetings at the Glamorgan Family
History Society, and everyone said to him...."You must meet our Graham,As he
was a Fireman on the Railway!".
So I shook hands with him,as I was a Fireman right at the end of the Steam
Era.I started work as a "Cleaner"at Canton Sheds here in Cardiff in January
1962.I was just turned 15,and was Made a Fireman in September 1962,just
short of my 16th;Birthday.
I fired the Last Steam Engine in the Cardiff District, out on the Main
Line,on a Trip up to Gloucester in september 1966.
After that,it was all Diesel's in this district.
The Steam Era finished forever on British Railways proper in August 1968.
I have driven many Expresses out of Cardiff Central up to London Paddingtom
Including the 125.
I finished with B.R;in april 1981 after 19 years service.
I now work for my local Council.
Cheers Graham
