Subject: [MON] ISAAC EVANS born 1764 somewhere in Wales
Date: Fri, 13 Jun 2008 13:24:09 +1000
Greetings fellow listers,
I have been researching my family history for over 10 years now, but have
never before had the courage to research my Evans ancestors into their
homeland of Wales, so please be patient with me if I appear very ignorant!
My 4 x gr. grandfather ISAAC EVANS was reputedly born in Wales, but married
over the border in Bristol in 1799. From the age stated on his death
certificatehe was born about 1764. I am starting my search with the three
Welsh Counties which would seem most likely to me to be a starting point for
a move to Bristol, and am therefore sending this letter to the mailing lists
for the Counties of Monmouthshire, Glamorgan and Breconshire. Unfortunately
Isaac died in a workhouse in
Southwark, London, but nothing can be gleaned about his origins from their
records.
I realise that looking for anyone by the name of Evans is like looking for a
needle in a haystack, but hope that his forename of ISAAC may narrow down
the search a little.
Please, if anyone can give me any pointers as to where I can go from here,
or where to start my search, I would be most appreciative. Of course, if
anyone has ever come across the name Isaac Evans, anywhere, which might
give me a lead, I would love them to contact me.
Cheers, Diana in Tropical Far North Queensland
