Hi,

I am Tom and my wife, Liz, and I are researching her family, COWLING,
from St. Agnes, Cornwall, UK. We have subscribed to this List for a
short time in order to ask for help on the following.

We are seaching for details of William Cowling, who was baptised in
St. Agnes on 10 October 1880 and died in Montana on 8 July 1924. He
was the only son of William Cowling (b. 6 Aug. 1854, d. 10 July 1945)
and Nanny Mitchell Sedgman (b. 1855, d. 3 Aug. 1925), all at St.
Agnes. They were married at St. Agnes 29 Nov. 1879.

William (junior) is commemorated on his parents' gravestone at St.
Agnes but we don't know whether that is purely a commemoration, having
died and been buried in Montana or whether he died in Montana and his
body was brought home or whether he actually died here. Neither do we
know whether he married or had a family.

His father was a tin miner until he made sufficient money to buy a
farm. It is therefore likely that William (junior) was also a miner
(tin or copper) in America.

If anyone has any information, or could give us some leads on where to
look, we would be most grateful.

Best wishes,
Tom,
St. Agnes.
