I would call or write the county recorder in Hill county. If any
landowners' maps are available for that period of time, they should have
them.
Do you think he was a homesteader? If so, that gives you an whole lot of
records to search.
I have the Hill county history, "Grit, Guts and Gusto" but it isn't indexed.
I scanned through it to see if there was a map but there wasn't that I could
see.
