Dear All,

I am new to this list & am looking for descendants & information
about the MAY family who emigrated from Gwennap Cornwall UK to the US
in 1870s to 1880s. In 1880 some of the MAY sisters were in Ishpeming
Marquette MI, before moving on to Butte Ward Silver Bow MT.

Parents in Cornwall were William MAY ( born c 1814) & Eliza MICHELL
(chr Trevorth Gwennap 30 May 1819). They married 29 March 1837 & had
6 daughters

Daughter 1
Mary Jane MAY born Q3 1838. I don't yet have her marriage

Daughter 2
Eliza Ann MAY born Q2 1841. I don't yet have her marriage

Daughter 3
Lavinia MAY born Q1 1843 married Edmund KENT in 1863
4 KENT children
William Nicholas KENT born Q2 1864
John H KENTborn Q2 1866
Edwin KENT born Q2 1868
Caroline KENT born Q2 1870
Lavinia KENT & all 4 children emigrated to the US on 14th Sept 1878
on ship City of Berlin from Liverpool ENG to New York. Presumably
father Edmund had emigrated earlier.
In 1880 they were all in Ishpeming Marquette MI, and Edmund & Lavinia
in 1920 were in Gladstone Ward 2 Delta MI both aged 76. I have not
traced any of the children.

Elizabeth Jane MAY born Q1 1845 or 1846 married William TIDDY 1868
One child William TIDDY born Cornwall 1868
2nd child Clara M TIDDY born c 1879 US
In 1880 Elizabeth & William TIDDY snr were also in Ishpeming
Marquette MI, with daughter Clara aged 1

Daughter 5
Emily MAY born 3 Feb 1848 married Richard TREHERE (TRAHAIR & var) 1874
1 child born Cornwall William Thomas TREHERE 1878. In 1881 they were
all in Gwennap Cornwall, but I have not found them later.

Harriet MAY born c 1850 married Joseph Kellow WILLIAMS 1871
2 daughters born Cornwall
Mary A WILLIAMS c 1872
Laura Annie WILLIAMS 1876
3 more daughters born in USA
Mabel WILLIAMS c 1880
Cora WILLIAMS c 1886
Ethel WILLIAMS c 1888

In 1880 the family were in Ishpeming Marquette MI
1900 Iron Mountain Ward 3 Dickinson MI
By 1910 the family had moved to Butte Ward 3 Silver Bow MT. By the
Harriet WILLIAMS was a widow. Joseph K WILLIAMS died in MT 3rd Nov 1909.
In 1920, Harriet WILLIAMS is still in Butte Silver Bow MT, living
with her married daughter Laura Annie, son-in-law William J DONOVAN
(born Ireland c 1875) & 3 DONOVAN daughters Leanore DONOVAN b c 1900,
Helen DONOVAN born c 1901 & Dorothy c 1912) Harriet died in Silver
Bow 4th Jan 1921

Although I have only found, so far, the emigration of 3 MAY sisters,
I think they may all have emigrated & am still researching the
family. Is there anyone out there in the US who recognises this MAY
family? I would love to find some new American cousins!
