why could this BOYLE person not have been related to his wife, not directly to Albert Edward Duff? If he was married she could have been married to her brother, or she could be a sister married to a Boyle???

Subject: [MONTANA] Albert DUFF b England 1883
Good afternoon list,
I could use some help and advice. This is my first venture into
Montana.
I am looking for an Albert Edward DUFF, born in Salford, Lancashire,
England, 24 August 1883. Salford is often listed as Manchester,
England as there is just a river separating the two towns and
Manchester is the largest and most well known of the two.
Albert Edward DUFF was born to William Henry DUFF and Mary MARTIN. I
have him on the 1891 UK census, living with his grandparents, Daniel
and Jane DUFF in Lancashire, along with his uncles. Albert's parents
have disappeared and I have not found a trace of them since the birth
of Albert.
Albert is nowhere to be found in the 1901 UK census. I believe I
found him on the 1901 Canadian census in Manitoba as a farm laborer.
They give his birth date as 24 Aug 1884. That is within reason to
believe that this is my Albert. It does not list the year he entered
Canada.
Next, I find on Ancestry's border crossings, an Albert E. DUFF at port
of Sweet Grass, Montana. One of the headings on this document is the
Name and complete address of relative or friend from Country of
Origin. Albert lists Manchester, England, Uncle, Frederick C. DUFF.
My Albert did have an uncle named from Frederick Charles DUFF from
Salford so I believe this is my long lost Albert E. DUFF.
I then checked the 1910 census for all the USA and there in no Albert
E. DUFF that can be found that even comes close to matching my
relative. Maybe he went back to England? How would I check that? I
found on the 1919 Ellis Island an Albert Edward DUFF married, coming
back to the States and he says he is going to visit a sister-in-law in
Butte, Montana by the name of Mrs. K. BOYLE. I do not know if Albert
had any siblings but, if this 1919 entry is my Albert coming back into
the states, it would imply that he had brothers. Unless the meaning
of sister-in-law as different in 1919, she should have originally been
married to a DUFF and then either re-married or divorced and went back
to her maiden name. That is a mystery. I have no idea who this BOYLE
is and if I found the correct Albert on 1919 Ellis Island.
Are there marriage records available on line for Montana? When Albert
was living in Canada and then crossed the border in 1908, he was
listed as Single. The marriages in England between 1909 and 1919 do
not pan out. The grooms with same name as mine have wrong parents.
Now that I am done with this long narrative, can anyone be of help in
tracking down Albert E. DUFF who crossed into Montana in 1908? He
cannot be found on any US census from 1910-1930.
Thanks for any help and advice. I have checked all the usual places
on line, including USGenweb.
Sue
