Regarding my posting of the extracted names from the Muster records of Augusta Co. dated ***September 1758***:

The "beauty" (if you can call it that!) of working with records which predate the computer is that when you run across things that seem to be connected, there may be a reason for it. Names appearing on a contemporary list, handwritten by an individual would suggest the men standing in front of the clerk had some reason (for us to puzzle out!) to be standing together giving the information!
In that spirit, when I extracted the names I tried to preserve somewhat the same organization. That left me with names which appear to be duplicates, but which in fact are probably not. I was not working with microfilm copies of the original records in this instance so I can't say for sure. The document I referenced does predate the computer, however!
I would strongly advise anybody researching relations known to be in the general area of Kentucky (Augusta Co., Botetourte Co., Fincastle Co. Virginia and couties along what could be defined as the westernmost territory in Virginia) prior to 1796 to be sure to examine the Militia Rolls for a possilbe connection to a relation. If you notice a number of names you've come across in your research, be sure to make notes.
The Indian Nations kept these people "on the move" in the early years, but from my research a number of families seemed to relocate together during those early years, probably for their own preservation!
