PHILLIPS, Mrs. Edna M., age 82, of 10759 Wood Rd., Miamisburg, died
Wednesday morning at Grandview Hospital, after a long illness. She was a
lifetime Miamisburg resident and a member of St. Jacob Lutheran Church.
Her husband, Elwood W. Phillips preceded her in death in 1963. Survivors
include 2 sons, Raymond, of Florida, Elwood, W. Carrollton; five daughters,
Mrs. Alberta Cramer, Mrs. May Bennett, Mrs. Hazel Houk, all of Miamisburg,
Mrs. Goldie Green of Brookville, Ohio and Mrs. Helen Mattix, of Florida; 24
grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at
1:30 pm Friday from the Swart Funeral Home, W. Carrollton, Pastor Oliver
Rajola officiating with Burial in Springboro Cemetery. Friends may call at
the Funeral Home, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm Thursday.
ELWOOD PHILLIPS, WOOD ROAD, AGED 75, DIED FRIDAY
Funeral Services were 1 pm, Monday at the Swart Funeral Home, West
Carrollton, for Elwood W. Phillips, 75, of 10759 Wood Road SE., of
Miamisburtg, who died Friday, 4:30 pm after a sudden illness.
The Rev. Oliver Arne Rajala of the First Lutheran Church officiated at the
services. Interment was in Springboro cemetery.
A native and life long resident of the area Mr. Phillips was a retired
farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Edna; two sons, Raymond of Bradenton, Fla. and
Elwood V. of Moraine City; five duaghters, Mrs. ALberta Cramer, Mrs Mary
Bennett and Mrs. Hazel Houk, all of Miamisburg, Mrs. Goldie Green,
Brookville and Mrs. Helen Cox of Hudson, Florida; three brothers, Charles
Phillips, Miamisburg, John of Brookville and Earl, Germantown; a sister Mrs.
Maraby Barkalow, Dayton; 19 Grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
WM. H. PHILLIPS DIES SUDDENLY

Was on way to Franklin when stricken with Heart Attack

William H. Phillips, well known farmer residing with his son, Charles on
the Mill Road east of Miamisburg, was stricken suddenly by death in his
automobile Tuesday morning while on his way to Franklin.
Mr. Phillips left the farm in apparent good health about 9:30 o'clock to
drive to Franklin. He was found dead at the wheel of his car in front of the
Howard Rockey farm about three quarters of a mile from his residence about
11 o'clock by Roy Forbes, substitute rural mail carrier. His death was due
to a heart attack.
Mr. Phillips evidently felt the attack coming upon him for his had pulled
his machine off to the side of the road, although the motor was still
running an hour and a half later.
He was 70 years of age having been born March 20, 1858 in Virginia.
Surviving him are six sons: Elwood, David, Robert, Charles, John and Earl,
all of near Miamisburg; two daughters, Mrs. Mariba Barkelow of west of
Miamisburg and Mrs. Alva Barkelow of Franklin.
Funeral Services will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock from the
Progressive Brethren Church, east of Miamisburg and interment will be at
Springboro.
Mr. John Peterman died Wednesday evening

The death of John Peterman occured Wednesday evening.
Mr.Peterman was born July 26, 1826 and was therefore at the time of his
death, 75 years, 9 months, and 20 days of age.
He came to America in 1849 and on March 21, 1852 was united in marriage to
Miss Henrietta Magdalene Hagle. In 1857 Mr. Peterman came to Germantown and
for 5 years resided in the village. He then moved onto the farm about 3
miles northwest where he has resided ever since.
The funeral will be held from the house at 12 o'clock Saturday and from
the Lutheran church at 1.
