Is there anyone out there concentrating on the Lincoln Co., TN Moore's? I have been putting a lot of effort into overcoming my own "brick wall" and would like to know if anyone has anything that could help.

My earliest confirmed ancestor is John Pyeatte Moore who married Lucinda Crawford. He was born 1 October 1788 (pressumably in Augusta Co., VA) and died 11 September 1844 in Washington Co., AR. He is one of the two John's that served in the War of 1812 under Captain John Doak (mustered at Fayetteville 8 September 1814).

The most encouraging information I have would indicate that his father may have been one of the brothers - Robert or John Moore - who arrived in the area around 1803 originally from Rockbridge Co., VA.

This does bring up the question - Does anyone know why early residents of Lincoln Co. consistently show up in the Washington Co. Tax Lists?

Thanks,
Jerry D. Vandiver
