Hate to say it but bacon can still be purchased by the slab today. Your choice of size in this day and age but it will come from the butcher. Guess we have gotten so used to precut pieces of everything, being a butcher is becoming a lost art.
Having a slab of bacon allowed for a generous supply of reserved bacon drippings to cook those yummy shoe string potates in. This is making me miss my grandma Crass. I'm probably gaining weight as I type. <g>
