The only ARCHER on the 1860 Oregon County Census is William ARCHER.

Subject: [MOOREGON] Archers in 1860 census?

Hello,

I have just run across to men named ARCHER who received land patents in 1859

in Oregon Co., MO, a time when I can't find my ARCHERs on the census. Does
anyone on the list have the 1860 census available? And if so, could you
tell me
if there is a James ARCHER and a Thomas ARCHER listed, and who their
families
are so that I can determine if this is my family or another? My James
ARCHER
appears to have gone from Taney Co., MO to Tarrant Co., TX, and perhaps back

to Taney Co., by 1850, but to Tarrant Co., TX by 1852, and then gone again
for
a while before returning to Texas. I would never have thought to look for
him in Oregon Co., but he did have a brother named Thomas and there are
those
land patents.
I will appreciate any help, even hints as to why they were moving so much.
I
keep thinking they might have been dodging the law, but would they go to the

government to get land if that was the case?

Many thanks,
Ida
