James CAIN (b. 1781 in NC) settled in Falling Springs Twp, Ozark Co, MO =
in about 1843. He lived before that in Marion Co, Tennessee. His =
children were: Georgen W, James M, John S, Charles D, Sarah "Sally", =
Eliza, Lucinda, and Leward. James, Charles, Eliza, possibly Sarah and =
Lucinda came with him to Ozark Co. Eliza md. Robert GILLILAND in Marion =
Co, TN, they lived in Ozark Co. Lucinda md. ? EVANS. Sarah possibly =
md. ? KEES. =20
George md. Rebecca STONE, he and John both remained in TN, being =
prominent citizens in Sequatchie Co. =20
James M. md Amanda M. STONE, sister of Rebecca STONE. They were =
daughters of General William STONE of Marion Co, TN.
James M CAIN and Amanda M. STONE had these children: William S =
(b.1837-8 TN), Eliza (b.1840 AL), Polly or Mary (b. 1842 TN), James C =
(b. 1847 MO), Spencer C (b. 1850 MO), George W (b. 1852 MO). Wife =
Amanda died sometime after this and before 1860, and he md. Sarah STONE. =
Not sure which is the mother of the following children: Amanda M (b. =
1856 MO) and Angaline (b. 1859 MO). =20
Apparently Sarah died in Marion Co, AR sometime before 1870 and =
James md. Minerva (possibly CASLIN). They had one child, Avarilla (b. =
1869 AR). I believe she md. J. E. CREWS/CRUSE. James moved to Marion =
Co, AR between 1860 and 1865. He apparently died sometime before 1870 =
as he was not on the census, but I am not sure about this.
Minerva CAIN might have remarried to Robert CASEBOLT. 1900 census =
shows them with 2 grandchildren named CREWS, John M. and Mamie (Marie?).
William S. CAIN md. Mary J. ?, they moved to Jimmie's Creek in =
Marion Co, then he was killed there in the Civil War, in 1862, fighting =
for the Confederacy. =20
Charles D. CAIN was Ozark Co Sheriff between 1858-1860. He md. in =
1858 to Dorothy TEVERBAUGH, dau. of Job TEVERBAUGH. He, his brother =
James, and nephew William were in a lot of legal trouble from 1858-1865, =
as they are in circuit court records a lot in that period of time. I =
don't really understand what it was all about. If anyone knows anything =
about this, please contact me. I have copies of the records, but they =
don't explain much about what they did. It was "disturbing the peace of =
a family" and "felonious assault." These three men all died in the =
1860s, as they are all in probate records. Would sure like to know more =
about what happened to them. Would like to know if they fought in the =
war and what regiments they were in so I can send for military records.=20
If anyone knows anything about any of these people, please HELP! =
Will gladly share what records I have. Thanks.
