Hi: My Alice May Hicks was a half cherokee born out of an affair my great
grandfather had with a cherokee woman from Oklahoma. I was told by her
children, my aunts and uncles that Alice was raised by a family that took her
in as a orphan child....as Alice's father's family wouldnt take her in and
her mother died at birth. This family that suppose to took her in were
Hubbard but no one seems to remember their names. I tried going through the
paper then that covered that area....went back a number of years on
microfilm. I had someone do a lookup on the Dawes rolls and didnt come up
with anything for her mother which is only known by "Jenny". I really would
like to find out who the Hubbard people are that raised my grandmother in the
Excelsior Springs area. In that microfilm i found that there was a Hubbard
family listed who took in children that didnt have a home. But it didnt go
into detail. I cant find the artical i copied now......a result of my
paperwork getting out of control. But would just like to know if anyone ever
heard of a Hubbard or Humbard family that took in children. Let me know if
anyone knows anything about this or has a way to help me with this.
