I have to agree with Gary (see below) on this one--not only is it tedious wading through all the personal email messages generated by folks on this list, but it makes one feel rather like an outsider.

If you want to exchange personal greetings with others on a general mailing list of this sort, I'd rather you exchanged email addresses and corresponded with one another directly.
