Does anyone know who Preston Griffing is?
As far as I know, I'm not related to him. However, among the McKown family deeds in my possession is one dated 4 Feb 1840, Ray County, MO. In it Wiley C. Williams and Serena his wife, "for the consideration of one hundred & thirty seven dollars & fifty cents" conveyed to Preston H. Griffing the following land: E1/2 of the NW1/4 of S33 T54 R28 containing eighty acres. This piece of land was later bequeathed by Isaac McKown, Sr., to his heirs. Isaac McKown, Sr., my ggg-grandfather, died in Ray County in 1852.
