G'day, Jenny.
Although I have nothing on your line, I am here to say, "Hello!"
to you from half way round the world.
Isn't email wonderful? I am originally from the USA state of
Missouri, which is in the middle of our country. (But then, I
guess you know that since you have ancestors in Ray County,
Missouri.) My mother's families migrated from the British Isles
to America and then to Missouri... to Carroll County, which is
a county right next to Ray County.
I now live in the USA state of Arizona, which is in the southwest
part of the country. I've always wanted to visit Australia though
I don't know much about it. Maybe someday...

> Hello to all the lovely Scottish people out there!!

looking for ANY infromation on a Lachlan CHISHOLM who appears in the 1841
census for Arisaig with a wife and family. He describes himself as a
'gentleman' and indeed has a governess for his children, and servants. I
have established that he inherited land from his uncle a Malcolm MCLAURIN
who was a doctor in Oban, about 1839, and from this have also established
that his father's name was Alexander. I also know that Alexander had
somehow amassed a lot of money. Alexander bought a house in Arisaig for
Lachlan called "Lochans" which is where Lachlan and family are in 1841.
Lachlan evidently married a lady called Alexandrina MCIVER, but I cannot
find any reference anywhere to Lachlan's birth, marriage or the births of
his children. Lachlan and his family emmigrated to Queensland, Australia
and when he died his obit. stated that he was from Samalaman, not that far
from Arisaig. When one o!

Moidart and her birth would have been in the 1840s or 1850s. Neither
Lachlan's birth or marriage appear on the OPRs or that of his wife, it is
all really very odd. Alexandrina was the daughter of Rev. Colin MCIVER of
Glenelg, but that is all I know, no birth date, no marriage place or date.
