Hi Carol

The IGI shows that Alexander Innes and Ann Stewart were married in Elgin in
1873. If you get a copy of that marriage certificate, it will tell you the
names of the parents of both parties. See www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk for
where to send to. You don't need to get the reference number from the index
if you know the exact year. Or (since it is a year for which the LDS Church
has copies of the statutory records) you can get a copy through your local
LDS Church FHS. Or you could get a professional researcher in Edinburgh to
transcribe it for you.

If Alexander Innes' mother is indeed Magdalene Smith, as suggested by
Jo-Ann, get back to me. I have quite a lot of information about Magdalene.
