Does your book of Duffs include mere mortals like Ann Duff. Ann Duff was
the mother of Christina McLeod (nee McCulloch) who was born in 1779 and died
May 9th 1857 at 115 North Back Street, Forres.
I noticed that the Earl of Fife was a Duff. "In the reign of Robert II
(1390-1406) David Duff was granted lands in Banffshire. The family prospered
in the 17th century and in 1759 William Duff, the Member of Parliament for
Banff, was made Earl of Fife and Viscount Macduff. It was he who had
commissioned the construction of the impressive Duff House in Banff in
1740."

Hello, Kate. It's nice to hear from you again. You really did help me with
William GORDON of Farskane (son of Helen DUFF of Braco) some years ago. As
far as I have found out Mary DUFF in this query was Helen DUFF's cousin.
The Duff book says that Mary died 1773, but that must be wrong. With the
help of ScottishDocuments.com I have been able to get hold of an inventory
set up after William LESLIE's death in August 1776. This shows very clear
that Mary DUFF was his widow. But this is just one detail. Your information
of their son William is more important.

This is interesting although I don't understand everything here. What is
meant with "our Broyr ffrances's good settlement"? The man mentioned is
certainly a Frances, but what is "Broyr"?
