There is another possibility: that she is a totally different Ann Peterkin
whose baptism is not recorded at all.

Have you got her in the 1851 and/or 1861 census? These should tell you her
parish of birth. I would definitely recommend that your nest step is to get
hold of that information, because without it you cannot really find anything
about her parentage.
