Betty,
George W. Paine/Payne and Thursa (Theresa) Litton were married 19 Apr 1842 in Maury Co.,TN. He was one of 5 sons of Micajah and Elizabeth (Allen) Paine/Payne. He was a brother of Isaac, Daniel and Robert who migrated from Maury Co.,TN to Ripley Co., MO abt 1843 and who appear on the 1850 census with their now remarried mother Elizabeth who m. to Timothy Hughes that year.
George and Thursa Payne came to Ripley after 1860 and must have purchased land, then he died and Thursa is selling it. I have a list of their children from the 1850-60 census of TN:
1. Stewart M. Payne b. abt 1843 - nothing further
2. Robert W. Payne b. abt 1845 - nothing further
3. Mary F. Payne - b. abt 1847. She m. abt 1879 to Nathaniel Stratton and they are on the 1880 Ripley Census.
4. John H. Payne - b. abt 1848 - nothing further
5. Elizabeth A. Payne - b. abt 1851. m. 24 Jan 1877 to Wm. B. Richmond in Ripley and are on the 1880 cen.
6. Henry Payne - b. abt 1853. He m. 30 Oct 1869 to Nancy Nesbit in TN and is on the 1880 census in Ripley.
7. James E. Payne b. avt 1854 m. 3 Sept 1885 to Mary E. Hancock in Ripley and is on the 1880 census.
8. William T. Payne b. abt 1857 m. 3 Sept 1882 to Pernetta Givens in Ripley and on 1880 census
9. M.J. Payne b. 1860 and m. 12 Nov 1882 to George P. Beasley in Ripley Co. (I think Beasley from Maury Co.,TN)
10. Sophronia Payne b. 1862 in TN came to Ripley but nothing further.
