Sherry, Hi,
I'm not involved in your line but I would like to make a suggestion, if
you don't mind.
I'd write to the Kansas City Clerk's Office and try to get a copy of the
Death Certificate for Silas Morris. It should indicate where he was born and
parent's names.
Write also to the to Union Cemetery for a search of other Morris people
buried there.
Write to the library and ask for a list of churches, from the
classified telephone
directory. You can then write to the churches and ask for a search of the
Morris name as members during the 1915 time frame. As a help, you can
indicate there
was a Rev. J.C Armstrong in attendance during that time.
I would also write to the Surrogates Court and ask for a search of
Probate
Papers for Silas Morris who died April 23, 1915. If he oiwned any registered
propery
or an estate, wheather he left a will or died intestate (without a will) his
estate
had to be disbursed. This should tell you something about his life, his
family
members and his economic standing. Perhaps you'll discover exactly where his
house was located in town.
When you write to the library, ask if they know any people doing
genealogy
that may be willing to give you some assistance, searches, taking pictures,
etc.
Hope the above gives you some meaningful help and, if so, let me know.
Happy Hunting, Howard
