Subject: [MORRIS] looking for Allen P. Morris born abt 1821 in NC,some ancilliary info that might help others
Date: Tue, 20 Mar 2007 17:11:31 -0400

I am looking for anything on an A.P. Morris born abt 1820 in NC. I have
discovered his name was Allen P (Pinkney, Price, Phillip- all just guesses
so far) and he was calling himself a doctor in 1859 Georgia and Alabama and
through mid 1860s in LA. By 1870 he was a farmer in LA and by 1880 he and
his children were in Texas. I am searching any leads on Morris families in
1820s in NC.

Does anyone have a Brice Morris in North Carolina?
I see a will index for a Brice Morris in 1857 NC, Pasquotank county, but it
is just an index, not the actual docs.

I am also looking for Asa Morris of NC. He was in 1840 Onslo NC census and
then I lost him. Looking for all of his children's names please. It looks
like he has one son who may be my Allen, living next door to him in 1840 NC.

Bertie County NC Church - Republican Baptist Church

<>

This is a partial list of members in the Republican Baptist Church from
1828- 1860. This list was made some years ago by another researching BUNCH.
I is typed as it is written with spelling corrections or
notes in parenthesis.

6. Alen Morris
28. Edward Morris
32. Joseph Morris
Female members:
34. Liza Morris
68. Emmeyline Morris
79. Sarah E. Morris

1860 Bertie NC census records show that:

Page 72B, Family 1129
Morris, Allen, 65, farmer
Morris, Sarah, 59
Morris, Emeline, 30
Morris, Andrew, 24
Morris, George, 23
Morris, Nancy, 21
Morris, Washington, 18
Morris, Sarah, 17

THOSE TWO MORRISES NAMED ABOVE, ALLEN AND SARAH MORRIS, ARE NOT MY ALLEN P.
MORRIS AND SECOND WIFE SARAH F ROBINSON MORRIS. MY ALLEN P & SARAH MORRIS
ARE BORN LATER, AND ARE IN 1859 AL and 1860 Louisiana. But, could this be
the father of my Allen P Morris? My Allen P. Morris was born 1820-1821 in
NC, Sarah Frances (Calhoun?) Robinson was born abt 1830 in GA.

http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/nc/montgomery/misc/morris03.txt

"I will now tell you something about our ancestors. My Grand Father by my
Fathers side was born in England and immigrated to the continent of America
a number of years before the revolution & settled in North Carolina on Broad
River I think in Montgomery County near the great fishery in that state
known
as the Narrows of the Yadkin on the Yadkin River. His name was John he had
one
brother by the name of Isaac who settled in Virginia about the same time. Of

his children I know nothing. Grandfather Morris had five sons and two
Daughters his oldest Daughter married a man by the name of Sanders both of
whom died in northern Georgia. I can not say what county. Aunt Polly the
youngest daughter married Alexander Mackey who had a large family of
children
that was living in Georgia & Alabama when I left the state. They uncle and
Aunt both died in Muscogee County Georgia. As to my fathers brothers I know
but little. I never saw any of them but Uncle John who was living near
Columbus Mississippi......

Hope this helps and is not too overwhelming for non NC researchers!
