Project Pioneers honors Roth, Janis, Bazile
Families; Names Meyer, Beauchamp Families for 2006
It was another successful year for Ste. Genevieve Project Pioneers as the
Roth, Janis and Bazile families were honored. Each family was represented by
a family spokesman at Opening Ceremonies Saturday morning.
Speaking for the Janis family was Thomas Pleuss, for the Roth family was
Karl Daubel, and for the Bazile family was Eugene Bazile. The speakers were
presented with a book of their family history at the presentation ceremony
Sunday afternoon.
Also honored were the oldest man and oldest woman from each family attending
the program, and the person traveling the farthest distance. Parts of the
Roth family stems from German immigrants, while others stem from a Roth who
immigrated from the Alsace region of France. For the German Roths, Amos
Roth, 82, and Emily Roth, 80, received the oldest man and woman prizes.
Carla R. Roth of Virginia traveled the farthest. For the French Roths, one
award was given to Delores LaHay, 73, as the oldest woman.
In the Janis family, Ralph thomure, 79, and Elaine Boudrie, 64, received the
oldest man and woman awards. Pam Westerhold from Michigan traveled the
farthest distance. Framed family crests were given to each of the award
winners.
Project Pioneers has chosen the families to be honored in 2006. They are the
German Meyer, Meyers, Myers families, and the French Beauchamp family.
