Hello Lady - I have already found here at home that this Sutton line is from
Ky, the William Sutton was age 49 on the 1860 census of Washington Co and
born in KY. Ours came from Cocke Co., TN, but that is still not to say if
they were direct relatives or not. Ky is so close to TN. On the 1860 census
their dau., Malinda Jane, was born in Mo about 1830 - so they came into Mo
pretty early. They are also on the 1850 and probably the 1840 census of
Washington Co. Yes, they are there, Robert & William Sutton, who it looks
like are brothers with their ages close. And Robert is on the 1830
Washington Co,Mo census as being age 20/30. So he probably came first and
then William came a little later. Roberts wife is age 15/20 on the 1830
census. And always they are listed in Belleview Township, on every census.
Robert E is buried at the Methodist Church Cem. in Caledonia, Washington
Co., Mo. 21 Jan 1806 - 25 Dec 1852. On the 1850 census Robert is listed as
age 44 a farmer and born in KY. he also had a large family of
children.William Sutton is listed as age 39 and born in Ky on the 1850
Washington Co., Mo census, so I feel sure that he and Robert were brothers.
Robert died between the 1850 and 1860 census as his widow is on the 1860
census.
Two of their sons were in the Civil War - R.Frank Sutton, no dates on his
tombstone and William J. Sutton Civil War 10 July 1831 - 4 Aug 1910 is on
his tombstone.
Yes, I saw your e mail to her. I have never gotten a web site set up.
Just no time to put it all in the computer once again. Ha. Hugs, Jeanette.
