Bettye posted the following obit of Samuel A Gossett on the board in 2002.
In the Salem Methodist Cemetery in Ste.Genevieve Co.,MO, there is a Sarah F Gossett July 29,1849 - October 4,1901, wife of S.A. Gossett.
James S GOSSETT b Apr 1811 TN and wife Rachel b Feb 23,1810 TN are also buried there. They have had a daughter Sarah age 1 in 1850, 11 in 1860 and 20 in 1870 census. She isn't in their household in 1880.
I had wondered if Samuel A Gossett might be a son of theirs, but he is never listed in the family in census.
1850 Robertson Co.,TN
602/602 Leroy Gossett 70 farmer VA
Mary 65 VA
Daniel 3 TN
Samuel 2 TN
1860 Robertson Co.,TN
586/585 Leroy Gossett 77
Daniel 14
Samuel 13
I haven't found him in 1870
1880 Union Twp.,Ste Gen Co.,MO
118/121 Gossett Samuel O 33 TN TN TN
Sarah 31 MO TN TN
I am interested in the Gossett lines as my gg grandmother may have been Nancy Gossett Summers.
In 1880 Legrand Summers (possibly brother to my gg grandfather) was living next to James S Gossett in Union Twp., Ste. Gen Co.
Anyway, to repose Bettye's question, is it believable that Frances Gossett might have been Sarah F(rances) Gossett?
Thanks, Sandy
[SAMUEL A. GOSSETT.

Note: As you can see above, this obit has his first's wife's maiden name the same as his name. If anyone knows whether this is, in fact, correct, I would appreciate it if you could please post a reply confirming this. Or, if it's incorrect, and you know what her correct maiden name was, please post that. Thanks]
