The last legal hanging in Missouri was the hanging of Roscoe "Red"
Jackson at Galena, MO. on May 26th, 1937. A couple of years ago a St.
Louis Post-Dispatch reporter wrote an article about that being the last
hanging in MO. At the time I thought he was incorrect as I had always
heard that the hanging of Hurt Hardy, Jr. in Ste. Genevieve, MO. was the
last hanging. However, I learned that his article was correct.
Hurt Hardy, Jr. hanging was on February 26, 1937.
