Hello Joyce, I saw something "somewhere" that said the McCreary's were from
Washington Co., MO. I have already searched the counties around St Francois
Co. for any indication of them and have found nothing. But I did find the
name in Washington Co., Mo as early as the 1830 census.
There are no Creavy names listed at all there. So I do believe her last
name was McCreary. Do we have an age for her anywhere?? As there is a
Rebecca H. McCrary(sp) listed on the 1850 Washington Co., MO census. She is
age 12 and born in MO. the father is James W. age 45 born in SC and the
mother is Mary A age 38 born in KY. There is another family of McCreary,
there on the 1850 census and his names is spelled with the e. But you know
the census takers, they spelled things however they thought.... well, there
is quite a bit of info on them in Washington Co., MO. so I will see what
else I can find there. Hugs, J.
