Jean Chamberlain, age 82, of Gautier, died July 1, 2008 in Gautier. She was a
member of the Red Hat Society.

July 2
Mrs. Dorothy Christine Minga Clark, 69, died July 2, 2008, in Pascagoula, MS.
She was born April 25, 1939 in Grenada, MS. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Troy D. Clark; her father and mother, Gus David and Jessie Mae Minga;
and a brother and sister. Entombment: Jackson County Memorial Park.

Mr. Louis Brent Jr., 73, of Gautier, MS, died July 2, 2008, born on Oct. 10,
1934, in Belle Alliance, La., to the late Agnes Walker and Louis Brent Sr. He
served 21 years in the United States Navy. Interment: Biloxi National Cemetery.

July 3
Rev. William "Bill" Barton Sr., 83, died 3, 2008, in Ocean Springs, MS. Rev.
Barton was born August 25, 1924, in Abbeville, AL. He pastored four churches
for over 30 years: Bay View Heights, Mobile, AL; First Baptist Church,
Satsuma, AL; Jackson Avenue Baptist Church, Pascagoula, MS; and Wade Baptist
Church, Wade, MS. He served as interim pastor for 32 churches while serving as
Director of the Home of Grace. He and his wife founded the Home of Grace in
1965. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Melody Ann (Lester) Barton, 16.
Burial: Vancleave No. 1 Cemetery, Vancleave.

Mr. Louis Brent Jr., 73, of Gautier, died July 3, 2008. Service: Providence
Baptist Church, Gautier. Burial: Biloxi National Cemetery.

Wilma Marie Hannah, of Moss Point, born July 5, 1960, to Sam and Georgia
Hannah. Died July 3, 2008. She is preceded in death by her father, Sam Hannah;
maternal grandparents, Carl and Catherine Dubose; fraternal grandparents, Dave
and Carrie Hannah. Burial: First Baptist Cemetery, Moss Point.

James Henry Lewis Jr., 78 of Gautier, MS, died July 3, 2008 at his home. He
spent his adult life in the printing business, and for more than 20 years
owned and operated James Lewis Graphics in Gautier, MS. Mr. Lewis was preceded
in death by his parents James H. Lewis Sr. and Manuela Lewis Carver.
Entombment: Jackson County Memorial Park.

Delorse Ann Ross McGowan, 56, of Moss Point, MS died July 3, 2008, in
Pascagoula. Born Jan. 17, 1952, to Jessie and Lottie Ross. Preceding her in
death, her husband, Clarence McGowan Sr.; her parents, Jessie and Lottie Ross;
and her sister, Karen. Memorial services: Christian Love COLG, 4412 Chillis
St., Moss Point.

Susan “Dianne” McKee, died July 3, 2008 in Ocean Springs, MS, born November
10, 1945, in Jasper County, MS, to Winnie Lou Patrick Smith & the late Arthur
E. Smith. She was a native of Jasper County and a resident of Ocean Springs.
She was preceded in death by her father Arthur Smith. Funeral services:
Corinth Baptist Church, Heidelberg, MS, with burial to follow.

July 4
Mr. Lorenzo Bell, born Aug. 30, 1974, in Mobile, AL. Died July 4, 2008.
Burial: Scranton Cemetery.

Joseph Maurice Donahue, 81, died July 4, 2008, in Helena, MS. Born February
10, 1927 to Joseph Maurice and Helen (Wenslow) Donahue in Nanticoke, PA.
Joseph is the brother of Marie (Gene-deceased) Brislin, Tom (Rosie-deceased,
Betty) Donahue, and Fran-deceased (Stan) Bodek. He was the grandson of the
late Beatrice and Maurice Donahue and Mike and Fran Wesnlow. A WWII veteran,
Joseph served our country on numerous naval vessels. He was most proud of his
work as a Weapons Officer at the Polaris Missle Facility. Joseph retired as a
Lieutenant in the United State Navy. Interment: Machpelah Cemetery.

Janie Lucille Holder, 86, of Vancleave , MS died July 4, 2008 in Ocean
Springs, MS, born June 12, 1922 in Bay Springs, MS to the late Benjamin and
Edna Holder. Interment: McLain City Cemetery.

Leroy Henry "Flea" Linder, 83, died July 4, 2008. Born on Nov. 23, 1924 in
Pascagoula, MS. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He
was preceded in death by his parents, Lalie and Louis Linder; sisters, Shirley
Ezell, Delores Myers, Betty Kirkland; and brother Cliff Linder. Interment:
Jackson County Memorial Park with both Masonic and Military graveside rites.

July 5
Harold Jensen Jr., 68, of Gautier, MS, died July 5, 2008, in Ocean Springs,
MS. Jensen was born Aug. 6, 1939, in Stanford, Conn., to the late Harold and
Evie Ann Jensen Sr. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force. A private
interment will be held at a later date.

Mr. Jimmy D. McAuthur 69, of Wade died July 5, 2008, in Lucedale. Mr. McArthur
was born June 10, 1939, in Philadelphia, MS. Jimmy was preceded in death by
his parents, Clarence and Mable McArthur; brothers, Billy McArthur, Carpenter
McArthur and Clarence McArthur; and his sisters, Helen Marie McArthur, Hilma
Cowart, Hazel Branning and Jerry Young. Services: Salem United Methodist
Church. Interment: Salem U.M.C.

Mr. Clifford McLain, 60, of Moss Point, MS, died July 5, 2008 at Hospice of
Light. He was the son of the late Olin McLain and the late Mary Lou McLain.
Preceded in death by a son, Jeremy Wayne McLain; and a brother, Leonard
McLain. Interment: McLain Chapel Cemetery, Wayne County, MS.

Thomas Francis Murray, Sr., age 85, of Ocean Springs, died July 5, 2008 in
Ocean Springs. Mr. Murray was preceded in death by his son, Patrick G. Murray;
sisters, Mary Allen and Peggy Murray; brother, Joseph Murray and his parents,
Patrick and Margaret Murray. Interment: D'Iberville Memorial Park.

Mrs. Peggy Brett, age 84, a former resident of Pascagoula, died July 6, 2008
in Irvington, AL. Born June 21, 1924 in Meridian, MS. She was preceded in
death by her parents Robert and Ida Smith; husband Maurice Brett Sr.; sisters
Leota Brunson and Grace Elizabeth Hutchson. Entombment: Jackson County
Memorial Park.

July 7
Robert Nelson Page, 75, a life long resident of Moss Point, died July 7, 2008
in Pascagoula. Born April 17, 1933 in Soso, Jones County, MS to the late Mr.
Rheal Page and the late Mr. Leatha Nelson Page. Mr. Page was preceded in death
by sisters, Martha Keys and Nannie Lee Brown of Erie, Pennsylvania. Burial:
Machpelah Cemetery.

July 8
Retired Senior Chief Donald Waite Caillavet Sr., 74, of Ocean Springs, MS,
died July 8, 2008. Donald was born June 25, 1934, in Buffalo, NY, to the late
Frances A. and Evelyn Caillavet. Donald proudly served his country for 21
years in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
F.A. Caillavet Jr., and a brother, Robert Caillavet. Interment: Crestlawn
Memorial Park.

Ralph Johnson, 88, of Moss Point, MS, died July 8, 2008.

July 9
Mrs. Mary Delores Rivers McCarty, 76, of Moss Point, died July 9, 2008.
Delores was born February 7, 1932 to the late Bessie Yates Rivers and Jessie
Rivers of Waynesboro, MS. Delores was preceded by two sisters, Louvern and
Vera Rivers; one brother Herman Rivers. Visitation at Little Rock Missionary
Baptist Church, 4912 Gautier Street, Moss Point, MS. Interment: Pineville
Missionary Baptist Church, Hwy 45 South, Buckatunna, Wayne County, MS, in
Pineville Cemetery.

Joseph S. Rogers, 79, a native of Vancleave, MS died July 9, 2008 in Ocean
Springs, MS. He served in the US Navy from 1950 through 1954 and was
discharged as a 3rd Class Petty Officer. He also owned his own contracting
business, Rogers Building Service. Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his
parents, George F., Sr. and Della M. Colson Rogers. Burial: Biloxi National
Cemetery.

July 10
Benton Thad Trehern, 77, of Pascagoula, died July 10, 2008, at his residence.
Born December 14, 1930 in Pascagoula, MS and was a life long resident. He is
preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Caroline Trehern, and a sister,
Barbara Jean Hamilton. Interment: Machpelah Cemetery.

July 11
Mrs. Esther Mae Roberts Stanford, 84, of North Biloxi, Ms, died July 11, 2008,
in Pascagoula. Mrs. Stanford was born in Wiggins, Miss., and had been a
lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. Mrs. Stanford was preceded in death by
her husband, Earnie Stanford; children, Esther Mae Roberts, Linda Carol
Roberts, Larry R. Roberts and Walter M. Roberts. She is survived by three
daughters, three sons, 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Burial
will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.

July 12
Mrs. Gwendolyn Joyce (Robinson) Huffman, died July 12, 2008. She was the third
child born to Mrs. Maggie Green and the late Willie Robinson in Pascagoula,
MS. A State Trooper for the State of Louisiana until her health began to fail.
Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Willie Robinson, grandparents,
Willie and Maggie Burt and brother, Marvin Washington. Viewing at: St. John
Baptist Church, 4100 Monarch Street, Moss Point, MS. Funeral Services at the
church.

Norman Earl Raby, Jr., 69, of Nome, died July 12, 2008 at Christus Hospital
St. Elizabeth, Beaumont, TX. A native of Pascagoula, Jackson County, MS and
resident of the Beaumont area since 1967. He was a United States Navy veteran
and a 32nd Degree Shriner. His mother, Lorraine Evans; father, Norman Raby,
Sr.; stepmother, Irene DeShurley; brothers, Evon Raby and Wayne Evans; nephew,
John McDermand; and father-in-law, Melvin McDermand preceded him in death.
Funeral services: Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Cremation

Ms. Charlene Monroe, 44, of Moss Point, MS died July 13, 2008.

Ronald Lee Phillips, 73, passed away July 13, 2008, at his home in Gautier,
MS. Mr. Phillips was born February 12, 1935, in New Castle, PA, to the late
William L. and Ellen Phillips. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and
Germany. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, William D. Phillips.
Funeral Services: a Gautier Funeral Home.

Arthur Ray Poole, age 42, of Ocean Springs, MS died July 13, 2008 in Ocean
Springs.

Mrs. Delores Tanner, 71, of Kreole, MS, died July 13, 2008 at Singing River
Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born October 11, 1936 in Kreole.
She is preceded in death by her father, Daniel E. Tanner, her mother, Emme Mae
Tanner, her brother, Raymond Earl Tanner, and her great-niece Gina Nicole
Cherry. She is survived by seven loving brothers and sisters. Interment:
Machpelah Cemetery.

Karen L. Williams, 51, of Moss Point MS, died July 13, 2008, in Pascagoula.
She was preceded by her parents, Janice G. and Vivian Grace Anderson; two
brothers, William Anderson and Samuel Scott Anderson.

Mildred Thiess, 83, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died July 14, 2008.

July 15
Carlos "Julio" Alvarez, age 70, of Moss Point, died July 15, 2008, in
Pascagoula. He was born on Sept. 30, 1937, in Tampico, Mexico. Julio lived
along the coast since 1955. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin
and Rosa Alvarez; brother, Robert and sister, Ester. Service: First Apostolic
Church, Hwy. 613, Moss Point.

Mrs. Nancy Sue (Whatley) Johnson, age 53, of Pascagoula, MS, died July 15,
2008 in Pascagoula. Mrs. Johnson was born on November 29, 1954 in Pascagoula.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her father Orville Whatley. Burial:
Machpelah Cemetery.

Mrs. Juanita Gibson, age 68, of Ocean Springs, MS, died July 16, 2008.She was
preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Vergie Fernandez, husband, Curtis
Larkin Gibson, son, Henry Lasseigne and sister, Billie Ladnier. Private
services were held.

Scott Oneal McWilliams, 51, of Vancleave, MS died July 16, 2008 at his
residence. Private Services.

Mrs. Isabelle N. Sherrell, age 90, of Moss Point, MS died July 16, 2008 at her
home; born April 1, 1918 in Jackson County, MS. She was preceded in death by
her father Carl Edwin Nelson; mother Bertha Delius Nelson; foster brothers
Herbert Castona and Edward Castona; favorite cousin Catherine Castona Adams.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Pascagoula, MS.

Mr. Glenn Young, Sr., age 82, of Ocean Springs, MS, died July 16, 2008, in
Ocean Springs. A lifelong resident of Ocean Springs and was a veteran of WWII
serving in the Merchant Marines. He was employed with Civil Service at Keesler
Air Force Base for over 30 years. He served as Chief Steward for the AFLCIO.
Mr. Young was the Civil Defense Director for the City of Ocean Springs for 35
years and also with the Jackson County Civil Defense. He served the public
through many storms and hurricanes. He was one of the founding members of the
Ocean Springs National Guard, a volunteer fireman, served as an Ocean Springs
Alderman in the 1980's for Ward 4, and owned and operated the Seven G's
Charter Boat for many years. Mr. Young was preceded in death by a son, George
Young, his parents, Orey A. Young and Marinina Moran Young, a twin brother,
Alan Young and sister, Audrey Sterkens. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery.

July 17
Buford Daniel Myrick, age 91, of Ocean Springs, died July 17, 2008 in Ocean
Springs. At the age of twenty two, after traveling the United States with the
Civilian Conservation Corps. He was sent to Ocean Springs to help build
Magnolia State Park; known as Gulf Islands National Sea Shore. He was the last
charter member of the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce, he helped form the
Noon Lions Club and received the Outstanding Citizens award of Jackson County.
Mr. Myrick owned and operated Ocean Springs Distributors, he photographed and
produced many of the post cards of the Gulf Coast, which was the love of his
business life. Mr. Myrick was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Dwayne
Davis, four brothers and five sisters. Burial: Crestlawn Memorial Park.

July 18
Ellie Thomas Drake III, 38, of Vancleave, MS, died July 18, 2008.
Marie C. Obernuefemann, age 93, of Ocean Springs, died July 18, 2008 in Ocean
Springs, born in Collinsville, IL. Preceded in death by her husband, Irwin
Obernuefemann; two brothers, George and John Blanquart and her parents, Louise
and Joseph Blanquart. Interment: Crestlawn Memorial Park.

July 19
Sadie Boutwell Clayton Campbell, a native of Quitman, MS, longtime resident of
Mobile and a current resident of Ocean Springs, MS, died July 18, 2008 at her
home. The last surviving member of the Boutwell family, she was 101 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur Clayton and George M.
Campbell. Internment: Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Luke Pryor Couch Jr., 83, of Moss Point, MS, died July 19, 2008 in Pascagoula.
He served in the United States Army during World War II. Burial: Evergreen
Cemetery, Gulfport, MS with military rites.

Mr. Mark Alan Heffner, age 44, of Ocean Springs, MS, died July 19, 2008 in
Ocean Springs. He is preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Nell Broome
Heffner. Graveside services: Crestlawn Memorial Park.

James T. Richards Jr., 53, of Ocean Springs, died July 19, 2008, in New
Orleans.

Ms. Gwendolyn L. Solomon, 30, of Moss Point, MS, died July 19, 2008, in
Jackson, MS. She was born Sept. 19, 1977, in Pascagoula. She was preceded in
death by her sister, Ms. Jeffretha D. Solomon. Interment: First Baptist
Cemetery, Moss Point.

Larry Schroader, 66, of Ocean Springs, died July 19, 2008. Graveside: Biloxi.

Mary Jane Elder, age 68, of Ocean Springs, MS., died July 20, 2008, in Ocean
Springs. Mary Jane was born in Baltimore, MD. She was preceded in death by her
parents, Andrew Gummer and Helen Gummer, a sister, June O'Neil and three
brothers, Robert, Ronald and Clifford Gummer, all from Baltimore, MD. (no
cemetery listed)

Edward D. Illanne, 79, a longtime resident of Ocean Springs, died July 20,
2008 in Cypress, Texas. Edward served his country proudly in the United States
Navy in both WWII and the Korean War. Interment: Houston National Cemetery.

Mrs. Iris Louise Taylor, age 79 passed away July 20, 2008 at her home in
Franklin Creek, MS. She was born December 1, 1929 in Jackson County, MS.
Preceded in death by her parents Gordia and Harriet Broadus; and husband David
Thomas Taylor. Graveside service: Orange Grove Cemetery with Rev. M.L.
McCormick and Rev. Patsey Twiner officiating.

Mr. James T. "Cookie" Richards Jr., 53, passed away at the Oschner Medical
Center in New Orleans, LA, July 19, 2008. Born Jan. 18, 1955, James was the
oldest of three children to Joyce and James T. "Sam" Richards Sr. A 1973
graduate of St. Martin High School. James was preceded in death by his father,
James T. Richards Sr.; maternal grandparents, Erma T. Atwell and Sellus
Atwell; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer J. Richards Sr., and mother-
in-law, Josephine Hunter. Service: Bosarge Cemetery, St. Martin, MS.

Mrs. Hazel I. Gordon Jones, age 83, of Moss Point, died July 21, 2008. Burial:
Serene Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

July 22
Robert J. "Bud" Boland, 71, passed away at his home in Pascagoula on Tuesday,
July 22, 2008, following a lengthy illness. He was born on April 26, 1937, in
Marin County, Calif. He attended high school and college before serving as
First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. In 1971, he and his family
moved to Pascagoula, where he was the owner and CEO of Pavco Industries. An
entrepreneur throughout his life, he also was the owner of many other
businesses, including Franklin Graphics in Nashville, Tenn.; H&S Lumber in
Charlotte, N.C.; and The Elms in Charleston, S.C. Through relocation of the
Pavco offices and establishment of Preservation Grill, he contributed to the
revitalization of downtown Pascagoula. He was preceded in death by his father,
Joseph Francis Boland; mother, Alberta L. Boland; brother, Albert Boland;
sister, Barbara Kline; and grandson, George Hames Boland. Funeral services:
First Presbyterian Church, Pascagoula.

Frances Balius Cody, 89, of Ocean Springs died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 in
Gulfport.

Sue Taylor, 56, of Hurley, MS, died July 22, 2008, in Hurley. She was born
Feb. 25, 1952, in Buckatunna, MS. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, C.
J. and Barbara Anderson. Burial: County Line Cemetery, Stateline, Greene
County, MS.

Mr. Carey Allen Walker, 47, of Hurley, MS, was born Sept. 8, 1960, in
Pascagoula, MS, died July 22, 2008, in Hurley. Mr. Walker was a 1978 graduate
of Pascagoula High School who after graduation moved to Baton Rouge, LA. A
memorial service will be held at the Funeral Home.

July 23
Mrs. Shirley Ree Cossey, 62, died July 23, 2008, in Mobile, Ala. She was born
Nov. 5, 1945, in Pontotoc County, Ms. Mrs. Cossey is reunited with her
parents, Modie and Vernie Mae Moss; a brother, Mike Moss; and a grandson, Ray
Whipple. Burial: Serene Memorial Gardens, Escatawpa.

Deanna McKee, 66, a longtime resident of Ocean Springs, died July 23, 2008, in
Ocean Springs, MS. A native of Pensacola, FL. Burial: Biloxi National Cemetery,

Mr. Elvin Tompkins, age 78 of Lucedale, MS, died July 23, 2008 in Pascagoula.
He was born September 7, 1929 in George County, MS. He was the retired owner
of Tompkins Trucking Company. Mr. Tompkins served in the Army during Korea and
was of Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents Wright and
Terethia Tompkins; siblings Burie, Aubrey and Jesse Tompkins, Emmie Galloway,
Evie Eubanks, Hillery Tompkins, Dorathy Vice, Wright B. Tompkins, Jr., and
Ernest W. Tompkins. Interment: Serene Memorial Gardens, Escatawpa, MS.

Betty Taconi Viator, 77, of Ocean Springs, MS, died July 23, 2008, in Gautier,
Miss. She was preceded in death by her son, Phillip W. Viator Jr.; her father,
A.J. Taconi; her mother, Marie (Julius) Zarachowicz and her brother, Robert
Carroll Taconi. Interment: Vancleave #1 Cemetery.

Mr. Elvin Tompkins, 78, of Lucedale, passed away July 23, 2008, in Pascagoula.
He was born Sept. 7, 1929, in George County, Miss. He was the retired owner of
Tompkins Trucking Company. Mr. Tompkins served in the Army during Korea. He
was preceded in death by his parents, Wright and Terethia Tompkins; and
siblings, Burie, Aubrey and Jesse Tompkins, Emmie Galloway, Evie Eubanks,
Hillery Tompkins, Dorathy Vice, Wright B. Tompkins Jr., and Ernest W.
Tompkins. Interment: Serene Memorial Gardens, Escatawpa, Miss.

Jimmy Dale Stewart, 70, of Ocean Springs, formerly of Laurel, MS, died July
23, 2008, in Ocean Springs. Burial: Machpelah Cemetery.

Willie Julius Thomas, of Pascagoula, died July 23, 2008, in Mobile, Ala. at
the age of 63. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Bertha
Hannon, and his siblings, Peaches Byrd, James Thomas, Johnny Hannon and Harvey
Thomas. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday at Marshall Funeral Home,
Biloxi, Miss. Services: Roxie First Baptist Church, Roxie. Burial: Zion
Cemetery, Roxie, Franklin County, MS.

Robert L. Whitmyer, 80, Ocean Springs died July 23, 2008 in Gulfport. Private

Joe Marvin Davis, age 54, a native of Pascagoula, MS, died July 24, 2008 at
his residence. He was born September 9, 1953.He is preceded in death by his
parents, Gray “Paw Paw” and Edna “Maw Maw” Davis; sisters, Betty Jean and
Dorothy Ann Davis; nephew, Leslie Ray Davis, niece, Macie Marie Macon; great
niece, Britany Diane Macon. Funeral Service: Leakesville Church of God,
Leakesville, MS. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

David C. Fayard, 74, of St. Martin died July 23, 2008 in Biloxi. He was a U.S.
Navy Veteran of Korea. Preceded in death by his parents, Davis and Margaret
Fayard. Burial: Seymour Cemetery, Ocean Springs.

Joseph Haynes Jr., born May 8, 1943, to the late Joseph and Lizzie M. Kennedy
Haynes. Died July 24, 2008, in Pascagoula, MS. He received his elementary and
high school education at Concordia Lutheran School, Salem, Ala. He was one of
the first founders of the Men Social Club in Pascagoula. He was a lifelong
member of VFW #10025. Mr. Haynes retired from Rolls-Royce Naval Marine after

Clarence Asberry Abbott, Jr., 80, of Gautier, MS, died July 25, 2008 at his
residence. He was born August 7, 1927 in Spartanburg, SC. He retired as a
Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force and served during WWII,
Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. He is preceded in death by his wife, Josie L.
Abbott; son, Michael Allen Abbott; brother, Rudolph Abbott. Interment: Biloxi
National Cemetery with full military honors.

Mrs. Terri Rushing Hoffman, 40, of Dalton, GA, died July 25, 2008. Mrs.
Hoffman was born in Jackson, MS, September 10, 1967, daughter of Charles
Curtis Rushing of Brandon, MS and Sylvia Faith Davidson of Vancleave, MS.

Kevin Todd Scott, 34, of Prairville, LA, died July 26, 2008, at his home. He
was born Aug. 17, 1973, in Grand Bay, AL. Kevin was preceded in death by his

Mrs. Frances Palmer Otey, born December 10, 1913, in Pamplin, VA, and a long-
time resident of Mobile, AL, died July 26, 2008, in Gautier, MS, at the age of
94. Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill, in December,
2007, and her sister, Lucille Baumgardner, in January, 2008. Burial: Serenity
Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Lorraine L. Overstreet, 81, of Vancleave died July 26, 2008 in Ocean

Mr. Newton Joseph Verrett, of Lucedale, George County, MS, died July 26, 2008,
at the age of 81. He was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Bell River, LA. He was a
veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his mother and father,
Adely and Avia Verrett; his wife, Mathilde P. Verrett, and two sons, Mark and
Timothy Verrett and one sister, Marione Duval. Interment: Serene Memorial

Mary "Kay" Berry, 51, of Ocean Springs, MS, died July 27, 2008. She was raised
in Long Beach, then moved to Ocean Springs. She is preceded in death by her
parents, Bob Arms and Angela Donohoe Fayard and her sister, Judy McClure.

Mrs. Patricia Cecilia Bullock, 65, of Big Point, MS, died July 28, 2008 in
Pascagoula. She was born on Sept. 5, 1942, in Pascagoula, MS. She was preceded
in death by her parents, Hubert and Gladys Burroughs, and her son,
Roger "Robbie" Bullock. Interment: Serene Memorial Gardens. Brother Wendell E.

Mr. Jerry Wayne Clark, of Pascagoula, MS, died July 28, 2008. He along with an
identical twin, was born on August 28, 1941, in Starks, LA. An active,
faithful member of First Baptist Church, he was also ordained, in 1971, as a
deacon at Ingalls Avenue Baptist. He owned Clark's Fire Protection, following
his retirement from PHS as a football and track coach and teacher and was
instrumental in creating the Driver Education Driving Range. Jerry was
preceded in death by his parents, Egbert E. and Idelle S. Clark; brother-in-
law, Raymond Williams; his paternal and maternal grandparents. Interment:
Jackson County Memorial Park.

Rosie Lee Cobbs, born Nov. 24, 1921, to the late Simon and Eliza Robbins,
Monroe County, AL. Died on July 28, 2008. Eliza Robbins relocated from Tunnel
Springs, Ala., to Moss Point. Rosie Lee was preceded in death by her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Simon Robbins; brothers, Willie Nicholas, Dock Robbins; sisters,
Lucille DeShields and Nellie Ruth Lee. Interment: First Baptist Cemetery,
Escatawpa, Miss.

James Robert Field Sr., age 44, of St. Martin, MS, died July 28, 2008, at his
residence. He was born on July 24, 1964, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was preceded
in death by his parents, James and Betty Field, and his two grandsons, Elijah
and David. A celebration of James' life will be held privately at a later
date.

Earl Lentz, 94, of Ocean Springs, MS died July 28, 2008. He was born July 18,
1914, in Jerusalem, Ark., to the late Arthur and Addie Barrett Lentz. He was
preceded in death by his first wife, Vera Lentz; and his second wife, Ruby
Lentz. Graveside services: Pinecrest Memorial Park, 7401 Miss. 5 North,
Alexander, Ark.

Timothy Glenn "Tim" Mazingo, age 40, of Moss Point, MS died July 28, 2008, in
Pascagoula, Miss. Tim was born Dec. 15, 1967, in Pascagoula. He was preceded
in death by his parents, Douglas Glen and Bonnie Faye Mazingo; uncles Donald
Thornton and Kenneth Thornton; and aunts Margie Younger and Juanita Winstead.
Services will begin at noon in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow
the service.

Joyclin Broadus, 83, of Ocean Springs, died July 29, 2008. On August 2, 2008,

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Brumfield Burns, age 97, of Williamson, Georgia, (formerly
of Moss Point, MS) passed away July 29, 2008. She was born in Pike County, MS
to the late Sam Simmons and Vert Lang Simmons. She retired from International
Paper and was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Moss Point. She
was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Brumfield and David Burns and a
granddaughter, Alicia Dotson. Interment: Jackson County Memorial.

Linda Edwards Powell, age 53, of Pascagoula, MS, died July 29, 2008. Mrs.
Powell, formerly of Ocean Springs, MS, had been a resident of Pascagoula for
nine years. Graveside service: Biloxi National Cemetery.

Rosalie Lee Richard, 90, of Pascagoula, MS, July 29, 2008, in Pascagoula. She
was born on May 31, 1918, in Jackson County, MS. She was a member of First
Baptist Church of Algers, Baton Rouge, La. Ms. Rosa is reunited with her
husband, Leroy Richard; and parents, John and Hattie Cauley. Graveside
service: Machpelah Cemetery with Bro. Albert Pendoras officiating.

Phillip, Shyla, and Haylie VanAlstine, all of Vancleave, MS, died Tuesday,
July 29, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Interstate
12 in Baton Rouge, LA. Survived by: 4-year-old daughter, Kaytie. Services: St.
Paul United Methodist Church East Campus in Ocean Springs, MS. Interment:
Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS.

Roxann Balsan, 63, of Ocean Springs, died July 30, 2008, in Biloxi. Visitation

Lily Mae Grady Gilly, of Ocean Springs, died July 30, 2008 in Ocean Springs.
Lily Mae was born on March 3, 1922, in Biloxi to Eugene J. and Lily Rushing
Grady. Lily Mae is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon K. Gilly; three
brothers, Henry Grady, Eugene J. Grady, Jr., and George Frank Grady; three
sisters, Ada Louise Grady Bergeron, Myrtle Grady, and Rose Mary Grady Martin;
niece, Tamelia Grady Fountain; two nephews, Matthew Martin, and Patrick Grady.

Mercedes Agnes Scordino, 85, of Pascagoula, died July 30, 2008, in Pascagoula,
MS. She was born February 28, 1923 in Pascagoula. She was preceded in death by
her husband of 46 years Philip Scordino, Sr. died in 1991; her parents Pedro
W. and Hermina Frederic Cox; brothers, Vincent J. Cox, Lamar Cox, John Cox,
Pete Cox, Bill Cox and Herman Cox; and sister La Nore` Johnson. A Mass of
Resurrection will be held at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church with Father
Patrick McDermott officiating.

Mr. Geoffrey Tatum, 47, of Moss Point, MS, died July 30, 2008, in Huntsville,
AL. He was born Dec. 16, 1960, in Bastrop, LA. Burial: First Baptist Cemetery,
Moss Point.


Virginia Ruth Meyers Vick, age 79, a resident of Pascagoula, died July 30,
2008, in Pascagoula, MS. She was born in Seminary, MS, May 17, 1929. Mrs. Vick
was a member of the Jackson County Quilting Association. Mrs. Vick is reunited
with her husband, Carl R. Vick; her parents, Thomas and Jessie Meyers and a
brother, Thomas Henry Meyers Jr. Interment: Machpelah Cemetery.
