Mrs. Rhea Horn Blackwell, 97, of Pascagoula, Miss., died June 7, 2004, in
Gulfport, Miss. She was born Feb. 9, 1907, in Smith County.
Mrs. Blackwell was a member of Eastlawn Baptist Church. She is a retired
Seamstress, and lived most of her life in Pascagoula.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norvell D. Blackwell; her parents,
Larkin and Lula Horn; and granddaughter, Sandra K. Morgan; three sisters; and
four brothers.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Duain and Connie Blackwell of Long
Beach, Miss; son and daughter-in-law, Sammy and Penny Blackwell of Sunland,
Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Bertis Porter of Escatawpa,
Miss.; sister, Imogene Vance of Conehatta, Miss.; sister, Treva Kees of Brandon,
Miss.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six
great-great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to dear friends, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Duke, Mrs. Howard Ezell,
Mrs. Bertha Ellis and Mrs. Cathrine O'Bryant, who were very dear neighbors to
her.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 10, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Jackson County
Funeral Services in Escatawpa. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. from the
Chapel of Jackson County Funeral Services with the Rev. Gene Emswiler and the
Rev. Charles Swartz officiating. Burial will be in Serene Memorial Gardens in
Escatawpa.
