Anne Lorna Ellis Maghan, 100, of Shadyside, Md., formerly of Deerwood, Minn., and Gautier, Miss., died Saturday, March 22, 2008. Born Oct. 28, 1907, in Brainerd, Minn., Lorna was the daughter of the late Jesse Lee and Lottie Mae Barkey Ellis. With 66 years of marriage, she was the police officer widow of George Glendon Maghan, Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C. At 14 years old, Lorna's innately strong character and faith was greatly influenced by the loss of her father in a fatal accident at his job with the Northern Pacific Railroad and by the fierce fortitude of her widowed mother in surviving this loss.

Funeral visitation was held at Hardesty Funeral Home, 905 Galesville Road, Galesville, Md. (www.hardestyfuneralhome.com). A family graveside service will be held at National Memorial Park, Falls Church, VA. lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gautier Presbyterian Church, Gautier, MS.
