WOOD

Helen Sturgis Wood, 77, of Escatawpa, Miss., died Wednesday, April 9, 2008,
in Mobile, Ala. Mrs. Wood was born in Crystal Springs, Miss., on May 21,
1930. She was retired from South Central Bell and Singing River Hospital, where
she served as a switchboard operator. She was a member of Wade Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lee Wood; her son, Jeffrey
Mark Wood; her parents, Charlie and Ruby Sturgis; and her brothers, Ray Sturgis,
Jesse Sturgis, Bennie Sturgis and Wilbur Sturgis.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha (Williard) Bridges of
Mobile, Ala., and Amy (Randy) Couch of Big Point, Miss.; sons and
daughters-in-law, Craig (Cynthia) Wood and Matt (Sherry) Wood, all of Big Point, Miss.,
Ben (Laura) Wood of Cutoff, La.; brothers, Cecil Sturgis of Crystal Springs,
Miss., Hamp Sturgis of West Monroe, La., Jack Sturgis of Vicksburg, Miss., and
Billy Sturgis of West Monroe; her grandchildren, Jeffrey San-ders, Nicholas
Bosarge, Jessica Couch, Luke Couch, Jacob Wood, Rebekah Wood, Amanda Wood,
Matthew Wood and Lane Wood; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Wood, Jack Wood and
Riley Couch and other friends and relatives.

Visitation for Mrs. Wood will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008, from 2 until
4 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 4 p.m. in the
chapel of Heritage Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in Robinson Cemetery in Escatawpa.

Heritage Funeral Home, locally owned and operated, is in charge of
arrangements.
