I am searching for information on my grandparents. Mattie Battle; came from Dyersburg TN, her dad's name is:Thomas Battle; his brother, Harry Battle.
My dad said they moved to Jackson MS around 1914 or 1915, and lived near a lumberyard. She married Willie Brown in Jackson MS, sometime in the early 1920's; my dad (Willie Brown Jr.) born 1927 in Jackson.

Mattie Battle-Brown died at an early age. Her husband Willie Sr. remarried Martha and they lived in Indianola MS (they lived on Church Street in Indianola).

My dad, Willie Jr., moved to Chicago around age 11 to live with his grandmother: Aurelia (Willie Brown Sr.'s, mom, and her husband).

My grandad, Willie Brown Sr. supposedly drowned fishing. (However, he was a chauffer and I wonder if it wasn't a case of him driving Ms. Daisy). He was a very handsome man. I have pictures of all these family members and will post them as soon as I can download them.
