Everette, thanks for the clarification. I will try to send donations
periodically for purchase of new materials. There are two counties in my
family history that mean so much to me. Attala County, Mississippi is one of
them. The other is Wood County, Texas. Attala for my maternal side and
Wood for my paternal side. Both very important.

Subject: [MSATTALA] Attala County Library - Need for Donations

Hi All,

Sorry I was not available earlier to clarify the posting about the library
needing our support which appeared on the Attala County MSGenWeb site.

At the request of Carolyn Pilgrim, head librarian, the post has been
removed.

It seems that someone from this list called Carolyn Pilgrim this morning and
told her that there was a post pleading for donations as the library was
about to close the genealogy room and that Ann Breedlove might lose her
salary. I don't recall stating that either of these events were likely to
happen, but apparently some people are reading between the lines and
applying their own interpretations.

Perhaps I was a bit over zealous in my plea for funds, but I certainly never
intended that anyone believe that the room itself would be closed or the
material contained therein would be destroyed. I certainly did not state
this to be the case and I don't think I inferred that Ann would lose her
position with the library.

Be that as it may, Ann assures me she is not in any danger of losing her
position nor is the genealogy room going to close. Ann has requested that I
advise all of you that are interested in the library and its future, that
the library does accept donations on behalf of the genealogy room, which are
greatly appreciated. She further states that the material currently
available in the genealogy room will not be lost although the library is not
ordering nearly as much new material as was the case when they had a
benefactor. Although Ann continues to hold the title of genealogy clerk,
the fact of the matter is that, she spends less time in the genealogy room
than was the case in the past.

Funds donated to the genealogy room will be used to purchase new equipment,
books and additional material. No part of any donated funds would be used
to supplement Ann's salary.

If my posting to the web site in anyway misled anyone, I apologize. My
intent was to alert everyone that the library had lost a valuable source of
funding for the genealogy room and needed our financial support to continue
to provide the services that we have come to enjoy. The genealogy room
needs our help. If you choose, you can send your donation in the form of a
check payable to the Attala County Library to the attention of Ann
Breedlove. Please mark it for the support of the "genealogy room". The
address for the library is as follows:
Attala County Library
201 S Huntington Street
Kosciusko, MS 39090-9002
Phone: (662)289-5141

Send checks to the attention of:
Ann Breedlove

It is regrettable that my choice of words caused some confusion and
misinterpretation of the situation. My apologies to any and all that may
have been unduly concerned.

Kindest Regards,

Everette Carr
Attala County Coordinator MSGenWeb
