Subject: Re: [MSCLAIBO-L] James L. Irby
In a message dated 11/28/2004 3:49:40 PM Central Standard Time,
writes:
1870 Rocky Springs, Claiborne Co., MS,
p. 656A:
L36, 257, 299, Elizabeth Irby, 6, Black, MS
H. Irby, 1, white, MS
Elizabeth Jobe, 80, white, keep house, England
Coper Jobe, 35, white, female, MS
p. 656B:
all born MS:
L1, Wm. R. Irby, 11, white
John Irby, 9, white
Elizabeth Cooper, 4, white
David Jobe, 30, white
Louisa Jobe, 24, white
This confusing census is from my line, and the census taker really threw me
off for a while. "Copen Jobe" I believe is actually Elizabeth Jobe Irby Ely
Cooper, mother of William Irby, John Irby, and Elizabeth Cooper. She is the
widow of William J. Irby, John Ely, and William Cooper. The other two Irby
children, H. (I believe this is Harrison Irby) and Mary are orphans that are
of
some connection to the deceased William Irby I believe. I can't explain the
race entry on Mary Irby.
Elizabeth Jobe is the mother of Elizabeth Jobe Irby Ely Cooper, and of
David
and Louisa Jobe. David later married Mary Adeline Stagg and Louisa married
Albert Quitman Stagg.
Hope this helps!
Wanda
