Virginia,

Although I don't descend from the Ashleys, I have done quite a bit of
research on Robert Ashley. He was with Aaron Burr in the early 1800's when
he escaped the Natchez District headed toward the Tombigbee region of the MS
Territory which is present day Alabama. They were headed to some of my
folks, the Callier/Caller family, when Burr was apprehended and taken to
Richmond for trial. Also, I can put you in touch with another Ashley
researcher.
