Frann, Good morning. First, let me tell you how sorry I am for your recent
loss. Your cousin that got us together told me.
You asked,
Questions on the James children.
In the 1860 census Lucinda James, age 13, is living with Sarah Fontain(e).
Could this be Sarah Risher who married Thomas Alexander Fontaine? She is
next to A. G. & Mary McLemore & there is a connection with these families.
The answer is yes. Sarah Risher Fontaine (widow of T.A. Fontaine) were the
parents of Mary S. Fontaine that married Thomas K. Carter. Their daughter
Martha J. Carter married our James C. Grayson. Now my question is what is
the connection? Why would a "James" child be living with the different
members of the Fontaine-Carter-Risher families?
1850 Clarke Co., MS Census:
Frances James 8 F MS living with Benjamin Rasher/Risher
Amelia James 6 F MS living with Thomas K. Carter
1860 Clarke Co., MS Census:
Lucinda James 13 F MS living with Sarah Fountain
Note: Sarah Fountain and Benjamin Rasher/Risher were brother and sister.
Thomas K. Carter was the son-in-law of Sarah
We, too, have Johnson/Johnston's, and McLemore's in our line. Tell me more,
and especially tell me the connections with the JAMES families.
Bless you,
Marion :)

William James, age 18 of AL, is in the home of a Rice family with Bankston
there, too. Maybe this is my great grandfather. My grandmother, Willie
James, has parents W. G. K. James and Naomi Johnson (Johnston on marriage
license) on her death certificate. This would make William born about 1844
& we think my grandfather was born 1842-1844.
Let me hear from you.
