Hope it helps. There's not much information unless you know which company he served in. Have you tried requesting information from the MS Dept. of Archives?

They are a big help! And free to Mississippi residents. All you pay is copy fee. The most I ever paid them was $2.40! They are fairly reasonable if you live out of state too.
