Nathaniel Folsom (1756-1833) in 1828 made a widely reported statement saying his father (not named in the statement) died at Cole's Creek, MS.

Per other Rootsweb postings, Cole's Creek was early settled by James Cole in 1780 and later by Richard Curtis and his Baptist group in 1780.

Judging by Nathaniel's statement his father probably died in the 1780-1790 period. The father was possibly named Nathaniel or Israel. Nathaniel (1756-1833) had a brother Edmund and two sisters unnamed who may have been at Cole's Creek during that period and possibly may have had descendants there.

It is possible that the father was associated in some way with the 'Jersey Settlers' as his wife (Mary Chambers?) was reported by their son to have been from New Jersey.

Am seeking any information on folks with the surname 'Folsom' at Cole's Creek, Jefferson County, MS in the late 1700's in order to confirm the father's death there and (I should be so lucky) find a death date.

I would be happy to share the info I have on descendants of this line for anyone interested. Thanks.
