Subject: [MSJEFFER] obtaining wills - Church Hill
Date: Mon, 11 Feb 2008 07:22:42 EST
Good morning,
I've looked and looked but can't seem to find online, how to obtain copies
of wills in Mississippi, or Jefferson County, MS. Could somebody please point
me in the right direction? Would they be kept at a court house, or state
archives, etc.? I'm looking for wills from 1898 and earlier. I don't live in
Mississippi, so I would have to do it by mail. I don't even know if these
ancestors ever had a will, but would like to find out how/what it would cost to
get wills for these ancestors who lived in Church Hill, Jefferson County, MS:
Colonel James Gillam WOOD (married 1.Sarah Weems Allein, 2.Martha Young) -
died 1845
James Gillam WOOD II (married Laura Fitzpatrick) - died 1864
Benjamin Franklin ALLEIN (married Juliet Morton Wood) - died 1898
It's possible that other researchers have already obtained wills for the two
WOOD ancestors above, but I don't have an updated list of current
researchers for this family. All lived and died in Church Hill.
Related names:
FITZPATRICK
COLEMAN
NICHOLS/NICOLLS
Thank you for any suggestions,
Peggy Dyas
Researching: ALLEIN, FITZPATRICK, WOOD (1810-1900) in Church Hill,
Jefferson County
