It was at one time known as Lauderdale Springs. It was a resort area, bathing springs and hotel. It was converted into a hospital during the War Between the States. It is indeed in Lauderdale County, near the town now known as Lauderdale. There is a cemetery there with graves of both Confederate and Union soldiers, but the vast majority of them are unmarked.
