I finally learned that the Pigford family was somewhat related to my family. My 4 g grandfather, William New m. Mary Wells in Duplin County, NC. Mary had a sister named Elizabeth Wells who married a Timothy Pigford b. 1780 d. 1823. According to THE DESCENDANTS OF JACOB WELLS OF DUPLIN CO they had 9 children but did not name them.

Apparently the families knew each other in NC and moved to the same area of Oxfor, Sumter Co, Al. while my NEW family moved to Lauderdale Springs, Ms. which is only a few miles away.
