Lynne,
This is four months late but I just ran across your query on John George Rainer. Are you aware that he was in Dickson County in 1809 and 1810? He received 640 acres from John Gray Blount and Thomas Blount of Beaufort and Edgecomb Counties NC on Sept. 2 1809. - See Dickson Co. DB A p. 336, And he bought 400 acres from John Gilbert on August 7, 1810 (see Dickson Co., DB A p396). Both properties are on Turnbull Creek. One of the witnesses was Benjamin Gilbert who moved to Graves Co., KY. I am researching Benjamin Gilbert and other residents of Turnbull Creek and would love to hear from you. Please write to me at . Thanks,
April

His parents were John George Rainer and Phoebe Gilbert.
I have been researching Phoebe Gilbert's father Thomas Gilbert. It turns out that he was a
Revoluntionary War soldier from VA but fought for the 2nd GA Regiment. He received bounty
land in Franklin Co., GA in 1783.
It looks like he was from Amherst, VA. I also suspect that his father (Thomas Gilbert?) fought in
the French & Indian War.
Does anyone have any more information?
