From Mississippi Newspaper Obituaries 1862-1875 compiled by Betty C Wiltshire.

"The Newton Weekly Ledger Jine 17, 1875 -

Dempsey Pace died at his residence in Newton County, Miss., June 4th, 1875, after a protracted illness, age 70 years. He lived in Mississippi more than half a century and was among the first settlers of this county."
