For the past two years I have been following DNA technology with great
interest. I have found a Gibbs DNA website collecting samples with the
hope of connecting families. http://www.wnconline.net/~hermes/gsdnap/
Having a block somewhere in all of my families I have thought this could
be a solution. It's painless, just a swab from the inside of the
mouth. To help ease the cost, the Gibbs site offers a group discount.
In order to prove ancestors, a Gibbs cousin and I are encouraging males
with the Gibbs surname to test. We have ordered a test for one of our
cousins and should receive it in the next two weeks, it will take approx
six weeks for the result. My line from Zachery Taylor Gibbs has no
living males to test so we are testing from my cousin's line of a
brother to Zach, Carroll Thomas Gibbs. There are a number of Gibbs
lines represented in Newton Co from Zach's father, Labon//Laban. We
would hope other males from these lines would test. Please check out
the website and give it consideration. A test can be taken at any time
and the results would be stored forever. The company storing the
results will constantly check against all tests as they are received in
the future.
Anyone out there know if there is an Ellis DNA group? For the
"Thanksgiving guest" I mentioned in a previous message, I would like to
have a male Ellis descendant from James Ellis test in the hope we could
prove where that line originates.
